It's most likely still hot. Put it on a hard surface (wood table or similar) and wait about an hour or two. If you still have issues you most likely fried your peripherals.
So I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and I was using it about a half hour ago. It ended up over heating and turned off. When I went to turn it on, the dell logo screen loaded as usual, but after it finishes, the screen immediately turns black. I have no idea how to fix this. I've googled, nothing seemed to help. I don't think anything has failed within 5 minutes of it being off.

Your potato might just broke
It is no longer hot, but I will definitely let it sit for some time and come back with results.
EDIT: I did what you said, but the screen is still black. @Lehsyrus

Your graphics card is most likely toast.
