Nope, there usually is a slide out cover where you can insert / remove hard drives.

remove harddrive ... it usually uses a SATA cables which if u have a newer desktop avalible ..... u can plug it up and go into "windows partition manager" format the new drive put BACK into ur laptop and boot from CD !! pressstoooo!
