I had a similiar issue with audio,using realtek software.
run gmod,join any server and check if the mic works.
OFC it won't work,as that's your issue,in that case,wich is the only case,go back to your desktop,go to the right of your taskbar and click on the little speaker icon.
Then,see if there are more than 1 sliders.
If not,click on mixer and see if the mic has all the right settings.
Lastly,if you're using realtek,click on the little up-arrow button (next to the speaker) and click on the realtek icon,then make sure everything works.
If that doesn't fix the issue,it's very likely that you've bad,subtle,settings in gmod.
