I do think that crates and shit can be implemented but only on the casual playlist. Hardcore and dedicated servers will probably stay the way they if something like that gets implemented. Crates could also be Valve adding a metagame to CS that doesn't influence the core game like HUD skins or announcers much like Dota2.

The issue is, there really is no money to be made there. Most of the people who play casual matchmaking don't bother with skins because they don't work on Valve official servers. Those that do would never pay for them. The crates would be a general waste of time only due to the fact that the community is based around the basic gameplay and utilizing their skills. There may be a hundred or so people who will buy that crap, but it would never be profitable long term compared to the cost of development.

Either way, Hidden Path fucking sucks at making video games, so I am sure half of the community will leave IF it ever did happen.

Well, They are making Cs:Go as tf2 atm, and tf2 got crates and other shit and went free after.

I don't know how much I believe all of that, seems to be quite a bit of speculation involved. Do I eventually believe CS:GO will become F2P? Yes. But I highly doubt it will have crates and guns to purchase from a store, the game is not built like that. It would never work because of the design of the maps and the gameplay mechanics.

The new update has crates and keys; both were leaked via Steam community market. The only stuff to be gotten are skins and new knives.

Anyway you look at it, doing this is a positive thing for players.

I'm just afraid on how this is going to be implemented under the hood. When Hidden Path did basic, and I mean BASIC updates for CS:Source, they damn near killed the game. For six months all you saw on the forums were:

>hitboxes completely off
>unbearable lag spikes
>servers crashing
>screen tearing even with vertical sync
>teleporting (lag wise)

And that's just scratching the surface. By the way Paladin add me on Steam.
