Follow me on this, the people that is working on the show, get payed by the station.
They pay the "actors" or people on the screen.

The station gets payed when people watch it.
People that watch it because they "think" it's true.

So in their eyes, it's a win win situation.
Question everything, especially when it has any possibility of being anything close or even remote to money.
