Yea... Avast seems to be the best free one. It pales in comparison to paid anti virus greats like ESET, Kaspersky and BitDefender... So if you're willing to buy it, then go for it.

Microsoft Security Essentials , that's the best free one in my opinion

Avast is good enough. Having that plus scanning with Malwarebytes every now and then or when thing's don't seem right helps too. With a little common sense and those 2, you should be fine.
COMODO Internet Security Premium has too many features as paid products and its FREE!
