Considering Australia's society is strikingly similar to that of America, I'd say the US.
Seems over the years we are really becoming good in military ties with America,
The strike force bases around the world one being placed in Australia i personally feel is kinda like a big fk u in the face of china and russia. Australia makes alot of money by selling resources to china hope this doesn't change that.
Would you prefer for Australia to become better allies with America or Europe, we still run under the union jack wondering if that is going to change soon.

You were seeking strength, justice, splendour.
You were seeking love.
Here is the pit, here is your pit.
Its name is Silence..
No, you really don't want that. Our laws are fairly vague allowing them to be interpreted by opinion over fact. Some judges are great with it, others are absolute shit.
You would want to ally with both really, improving relations with the global elite is only a good thing, both Europe and the US have an abundant amount of power, technology, and resources. Joining is the best idea. That's why you always see Canada helping the US and the UK out here and there, they have become one of the elite by assisting the current elite, and in doing so have put themselves in a very powerful place.
@KarmaKills
If Australia legalizes guns in Australia and furthermore in schools, I'll personally kill the prime minister.
Yea , Australia is getting good more and more in the militaries like Egypt every year it becomes more powerful with the military trades they do with the world not only U.S or Russia.

"better allies"?
You are already allies, and you help out. There really isn't much more, I'd rather Australia stay independent for military stuff(because the population suffers otherwise), but do w/e in all other scenarios.
