First of @Dave84311 . (You are the law) so thought I would mention you.

Now so all of you know, I got my iPod stolen last week. If not just refer to this thread:

But so the guy was caught on camera at school. But now I'm in a situation on not sure on how to go about it and what I can get out of it. So the kid supposedly when he stole it threw it on a street and just left it there. The cop gave him til today to return it, which he did, but there are damages. The camera lens is bent in and scratched but not shattered. The entire back is also all scraped up and destroyed and the device was in perfect condition before he stole it. He also restored it, so I lost everything on the device because I didn't have a backup. The case is missing as well. So all in all the total comes out to be 450$ for what was destroyed (if I were to get a new iPod as well as app/music recovery + case). Im suppose to get a letter in the mail where I can charge him for the amount that I think he owes me for damages and that will be brought up in court.So what I was wondering is can I charge him for full price because there is no way someone can repair the back of an iPod or iPhone. You would have to get a complete new one or just keep the scratches without giving him a fine at all and I would prefer compensation for a new one.

He is obligated to repair all damages.

Bring it to the Apple store and have them give you the full price of restoration along with a bill of what it would cost. Those guys will be the most honest motherfuckers for this scenario, as they always try to rape every penny out of you. A bill directly from the manufacturer of the device will be more than enough evidence.
