It seems people who haven't watched much anime (DBZ, Pokemon) have a tendency to bash on the medium itself. So I'm curious as to why exactly? Since anime covers everything you could possibly think of, there's something out there that suits everyone.
So why is there hate for the medium? Besides the animation and the annoying fanbase, there aren't many reasons that I could think of.

The only problem is the way the idea(in this case anime) is presented.

In some cases you have the anime that is too childish.

And then you have anime that is a straight up porno.

That's pretty much 90% of all anime.

90% yeah... I'll agree with you on that. There's some great titles out there for mature audiences though:

Overall each season there's roughly 50 or so anime. Out of all of those there's probably 5-10 (more or less) mature anime.

It's not about the ideas or topics it's talking about, it's the way it's presented.

Let me put it this way, if there's two songs about friendship.

One rap and one metal.

If you're a rap person, you wouldn't listen to the metal one.

Not because you're not into the topic, just the way it's presented.

You see most people see anime watchers as two different kinds of people:

The "type A": The people who watch braindead shonen like naruto/bleach and dbz and are worse than comic fans with their fantasies.

And the "type B": The people who watch harem anime and anime with giant breast and little plot, generally people would refer to them as "perverts", but to a lesser degree.

This leads the western population who already thinks "oh japan, you so crazy!", to just look down on anime.
There is also the problem of quantity of anime versus quality. For every Ghost in the Shell or Howl's Castle, there is 50 more Highschool DxD's.
Then there is the average age of audience for anime.(12-15)
Then the giant breast making women feel "inferior" whatever.
Then there is the "random" anime like Bobo
Then there is the japan-everything.
Then there is the extreme amounts of violence or fanservice.
Then there is the shoujou
Then there is the lack of current anime.

It's not "marketed correctly"? It's marketed just fine, unless you're expecting them to lie.

People just don't watch it, so they jump to dumb conclusions and hate what they don't understand, it's human nature.

No, what we mean is the reason people hate anime is the same reason people like different styles of music.

It's just the way it's presented.

Some people like listening to all types of music, and others say they hate country for example.

Same thing with anime.

Some people like anime, and some don't.

Not because they don't understand it, they just don't like the way it's presented.

Not everyone likes watching cartoons and animated females with huge titts you feel me?
