I've wondered how this would work since you can customize your character to look like whatever you want and both teams use the same skins how would you tell which team was which? The hack would have to use the same color for all which would screw the whole idea really. Also I've heard this hack would be a monumental feat, considering the encryption, that would take a very long time to make.

It is actually possible even with all uniforms being able to be used by both teams. See when you are in game the only color that associates 2 separate teams is the color of the name tags over the players and in the kill feed. the game itself hooks to the players ID and allocates a color scheme to it. If a coder/modder was able to find that hook and export it then modify it to his needs then he could essential make a working texture hack. It wouldn't be 100% perfect but it would be enough to lay the ground work for a texture hack. Also a texture hack doesn't only apply to color models of Players but all graphics involved in the game, trees, bushes, dust, snow, rain, etc. So the texture hack he speaks of may be something as simple as removing weather effects and foliage. Who knows?
