I urge you to go to your local police department and sign up for a ride-along, and actually see what they go through, and how professional they really are. I've gone several times, and each time has opened my eyes even more. People swear at them, spit on them, threaten their families, and resist any chance they get. Not once have I seen an officer lose his cool, break any legal code, or even bat an eye at how they were treated. It really takes someone special to be an officer of the law, and its truly a shame how they're dehumanized by the actions of the few.
