Yes, VM would be okay to test most programs.
Hello,
I am thinking of downloading a program from the unsafe site, there is a high risk that the program will contain keylogger or malware/virus etc...
Since I really want to try that program, what would be the safest way to download and open the program?
Am using win 7, and got free avast protection -.-“
Anyway, would a virtual machine with Linux, external usb device help out?!, new partition on disk just for this work? Idk :/,help please
Yes, VM would be okay to test most programs.
Yea run it in VMWare. Nothing should happen. Or, don't run it at all. It's better to be safe than sorry.

thanks!
You could also try a free program called sanboxie. It allows you to right click the program then select "run sandboxed" and if the file is infected it won't actually affect your computer at all.
Sandboxie - Download Sandboxie
