2-Is the windows defender that comes free with windows 8 strong enough for defending normal using " I don't download hacks and risky stuff "

1. Every product's performance is different from pc to another, if they are with the same specs. for the best protection I'd recommend Emsisoft Anti-Malware
I'm using it currently its really great product and they have the best behavior blocker I ever used.
2. W8 Defender is good enough if you know how to utilize UAC+SmartScreen with some common sense.
