Sorry man idk where you've been but Hip Hop has definitely been in a renaissance for the past few years, we're living in arguably the best time in hip hop right now. The internet has absolutely exploded hip hop into a much more nuanced genre than people give it credit for.

Yes but sadly, more people listen to Drake and such rather than hopsin, macklemore, dizzy right, etc...

Gangsta Rap was originnaly founded by Easy E a member of N.W.A (Niggaz Wit Attitudez) Consisting of Dr.Dre, Easy E, MC Ren, MC Yella, Ice Cube. they first realeased the album Straight Outta Compton on 1982. When Arabian prince was still in the group. 4 Years Later Tupac Appeared, Supported by Dr.Dre and Snoop DOGG Who was also discovered by Dr.dre. Easy E died 1992. And he has been put on the Rock n roll hall of fame as the author of Gangsta Rap. Tupac, 50 cent and all the current rappers use a former use of gangsta rap, a rap expressing hate againts authority or controversing something.
Mackelmore is a tryhard he even said his music is crap.

    Authors worth listening to:

    Tupac
    The Notorious B.I.G
    N.W.A
    Dr.Dre
    Snoop Dogg
    Public Enemy
    Ect ect
