[Help] New mobo needed for PCIE 3.0

    Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) W3570 (8 CPUs), ~3.2GHz

    Motherboard ASUS Rampage III Extreme

Video Card: ASUS ENGTX560 DCII OC/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Power Supply: 700W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Power Supply - OEM

I need a new MOBO that could support my CPU(preferably) and that has PCIE 3.0...

If im not wrong every 700 series requires PCIE 3.0? is there anyway I can get away with a new GPU with my current mobo?

Also why is this server mobo better than most of these other mobos? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121739

Heres what I'm looking to ordering.. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813132046
anything cheaper that would be good? also

Graphics cards are backwards compatible so you can use PCI-E 3 cards in PCI-E 2 slots. You may lose some performance from the card though, but that's a given.

---To support PCI Express 3.0, you must install an Intel 22nm CPU--- That's for https://www.gigabyte.us/products/prod...px?pid=3975#sp but will this apply to me aswell?

that's nice to know, how much of a performance loss? I also read this somewhere else but it didn't make sense too much like the card wont physically be turned around correct? I may just go with your CPU+MOBO combo there but then again I don't want to blow that kind of money if I don't need to..

Any Recommended GPU's? 770 4gb whats the diff between the 2GB..? Also I have a GTX 560Ti whats with the talk about the older cards being faster? Do I have a better bet on SLI GTX560 Ti's or a new card?

The 770 4Gb edition cards are just SLI in a single card form and that's the only difference really. It's not really worth SLI'ing any card to be honest, either you know your limitation on the games you can play and how you tweak the settings or you go balls to walls and get a High end card.

Thats not to say that there aren't performance improvements from SLI'ing, it's just impractical in most cases. So to answer your question, you could go with a 750Ti if you wanted to because they are cheap for they what they are and that's if you don't want to exactly break the bank.

I'm looking at these suckers... https://www.evg*****m/Products/Product...hipset=GTX+770

EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Superclocked $389.99
    Code:
    • 1085MHz Base Clock
    • 1137MHz Boost Clock
    • 138.8GT/s Texture Fill Rate
    • 2048MB GDDR5 Memory
    • 7010MHz Memory Clock
    • 224.32GB/s Memory Bandwidth
    VS

EVGA GeForce GTX 770 4GB Dual w/ ACX Cooler $399.99

    Code:
    • 1046MHz Base Clock
    • 1085MHz Boost Clock
    • 133.8GT/s Texture Fill Rate
    • 4096MB GDDR5 Memory
    • 7010MHz Memory Clock
    • 224.32GB/s Memory Bandwidth
Am I missing something here bc the superclocked has higher specs... and cheaper? does the card run more power im quite confused..

Also Running SLI 760's seems a cheap way to save $600 with a nice performance... And should I go upgrade my cpu before thinkning about another GPU?

One has 2GB of VRAM and one has 4GB.

Just because it says 4GBs doesnt mean it has 4GB of VRAM. Essentially this is a Two 2GB cards on one PCB with only 2GB of VRAM available. The extra memory might be used for higher resolutions, but if he isn't going to game on a monitor higher than 1920x1080, than it's pointless in him getting a 4GB card that has limitations straight out of the box.

Single GPU Graphics cards will always be better in the long run and you just need to know which will suit your budget for now until you can afford a flagship model or wait for a new series of cards which is what I am doing with NVIDIAs Maxwell 800 series
