Flash is just as good as Java when it comes to game dev. Flash is a laggy piece of shit, so is java. They are basically the same when it comes to functionality, so the same job could be done in flash just as easily if not easier.

If a design is flawed, you revise it not dump it.

Java in my opinion has a much better structure, to me, the code of a flash project is scattered.

The fact that 85% of a flash project written for a game has logic that can't really be applied to any other language, and java on the other hand can is a good enough reason for me to choose Java over flash.

And Java is far more powerful then flash. If needed, Java can have full control over the client's computer. I.e write\read files. Actually open a socket opposed to using that fms crap flash uses(so we can actually write our own servers).

Lastly, java performs much faster then flash, at least when executing a large portion of a tasks. Take this for example. I've seen one slow ass mo-fuckin OS written in Flash and I bet the code was so messy it would take months of study to work something off of it. THe java OS runs independantly, outside of a webbrowser, and much, much faster.

I'm sure you've written a game in both, and the differences are massive.

Yeah, karmas' been hit'in me hard lately, lol. First I dislocated me knee, and this is a good thing, because they did an X-Ray and found out I actually have a tumor(one which isn't cancerous thank god. It still need to be removed via surgery). At the same time I am fighting a canker sore about the size of your finger tip placed inconveniently on lip. Meaning, everyone can see it at school, it hurts like a motha fucka, and because it's swollen I can't speak sounding like anything other then a retard or eat foods bigger then half a cracker. Additionally I was bitten by something(and it didn't just itch..) I got some sort of light fever from it, just enough to make my sleeps more uncomfortable then they already are.

Then the day after, my P.E teacher told me to do my best, so, being a tool, I did. And I got cramps all down both of my legs. Really bad ones on the muscles I actually relied on to walk(now I'm using crunches). Then after that I had to do two blocks of upper-body because my PE teacher didn't want me to do lower-body. I had cramps in every goddamn muscle.

And today I can feel another canker sore growing on the back of my mouth(hey, at least it's in my mouth and not sitting on the lip.).

Even though it's hard to say this, there are people out there with bigger problems so who am I to complain?
