A skinny deranged highschooler(he didn't kill anyone) with limited knowledge on how to use a knife should be quite easy to drop. Imagine how much easier it would be with 4 people on your side. Imagine how many lives could have been saved out of harms way.

I think it's a lot easier said than done. Unless you're some highschool student with a black belt in some kind of martial arts, I wouldn't attempt anything. Even if the deranged student is getting ganged up on, someone will still get hurt in the fight, but perhaps not as many. Building off of that, I don't know many selfless people who would be willing to go in harm's way for a chance to save others.

I think it's a lot easier said than done. Unless you're some highschool student with a black belt in some kind of martial arts, I wouldn't attempt anything. Even if the deranged student is getting ganged up on, someone will still get hurt in the fight, but perhaps not as many. Building off of that, I don't know many selfless people who would be willing to go in harm's way for a chance to save others.

Well I can speak for myself because I have black belts in several martial arts.(mainly karate. 3rd degree karate black belt)

It's all about selflessness, I doubt if people gank up on him or even a kid chargin him with a chair half as many people would die.

"Oh I have a black belt in martial arts" seriously? You think that's going to help you? You think you'll go against your instincts to flee, stay calm in the face of this kid and fight him? You realize if you fuck up in the slightest he'll gut you? The only reason you can type away is because you've never been in such a situation.

Oh definitely. Situations like these aren't about how powerful or talented you are. This is about mentality; it's about whether or not you are capable of dealing with a near death situation such as that.

The only way you can get that is really by having been through situations like these. For example growing up in a place where a junkie tries to mug you every time you walk down the street. A place where you have to learn how to defend yourself and carry protection at the age of 8.

Another example would be the military. New recruits have to be mentally broken, literally. Hey I'm not blaming these people and I'm not surprised that they ran simply because i know they aren't exposed to situations like these ever. Most blood they see is during a sport injury or when they scrape their knee.
