(Noob Question) How do I get thanks and rep?

First of all, how do I get thanks and reputation?
Is it some points you get for doing something good?
Is reputation a sign of awesomeness on the forums?

Make a useful post that is beneficial and then you'll get a thanks, and yes it is a sign of awesomeness It shows that you're a helpful person and that you're not a cunt I guess lol

The thanks button is located on the bottom right of every post, good luck.

As above said, the thanks is located on the bottom of the posters post, the thumbs up with the thanks icon and word
just press it

REP is the star directly under there stats

next to the triangle on the very bottom
the star one

you get rep power from posts/rep/join date
rep power affects how much rep you give


and it's a sign of thanks and helpfulness, or may be something funny.
