There's the source to a program that I wrote yesterday related to this topic, albeit not as completely fleshed out (no gui, must manually enter package id).

Didn't read the whole thread to see if he was planning on releasing source or not, but this is something people can mess around with which is fairly easy to modify and fairly easy to use.
