There have been all sorts of fake stories and reports about zombies circulating the internet, but new drug had surfaced a couple of years ago dubbed "Cloud 9" by police that could cause psychosis behavior similar to zombies. Some users attacked other people and bit them, one of the attackers fully ate another mans face before being shot to death.

CDC has officially denied the existence of any virus or bacteria that could even remotely be related to a zombie outbreak and also said that rabies (mad cow disease) can never pose such a threat either. Same as the fungai or whatever it was in The Last of Us game. It only infects and zombified ants but can never do the same to humans.

But what if a mad scientist could discover a zombie virus in the future? What if it's already discovered in secret labs? Do you think it's possible for a zombie outbreak to happen in real life?

Yes, but it would be impossible to engineer it in a way that:
1) It become airborne
2) It wouldn't kill quickly
As CDC already mentioned, you can never turn rabies into zombie virus.
