I was waiting for my weekly "bash on SAO" thread.
You know, if the show wasn't trying so hard to make Kirito look cool all the time.....
-"Most people don't use these lightsabers because it's too hard".
-"It's impossible to get to beat this gambling machine!"
-"Driving these motorcycles is super hard!"
Like we get it, Kirito can do everything and anything on the first try because he's just that good.
Episode summary:
-Kirito logs in
-Meets sinon
-Sinon expositions basic game mechanics.
-They move on to register for BoB.

Horror (07-26-2014)
they tried not to use the word "lightsabor" such as energy sword, photon sword, laser blades, and beam sabers. It's not hard to use it, is mostly for close combat and since it's a gun game people prefer range

Jojo's Bizarre adventure isn't a critically good show, but it is REALLY entertaining. Like per episode it's one of the best.
In Japan it's usually referred to as "Beam Saber" because of Gundam.
The main thing is that it's supposedly difficult, and because of that Kirito is super-skilled by using it.
SAO continually does this. They put kirito in any situation and then describe it as "super hard" then the audience is supposed to be amazed once he does this relatively simple task.(like in this episode, where all he did was drive a bike).
Contrast this with Jojo's where someone actually does something amazing, then they explain why.
I heard they made a few references to anime, manga and gaming. My friend told me there was a Tales of Zestiria reference in this episode.
I'm still not watching SAO and probably won't for a long time. Remember that SAO movie that came at the end of last year? Yeah, I still have it on my HDD and I haven't watched it.
I actually liked this episode: It reminds me of why the first season was so amazing in my opinion: Kirito is so overpowered. I like that kind of protagonists, that's why I started liking mahouka koukou no rettousei as well after a few episodes had been aired.
OP protagonist like Guts, Alucard, and Kei-Kurono, I understand, but perfect omnipotent beings like Kirito? It's kind of overkill.
Like no joke, he gets in the game, 5 minutes later he wins the lottery. O_O?
What makes great characters who are overpowered great is that there is always either a mystery to their power(alucard), they are just a normal man(kei) or they have had such experience and hardship that they get a free pass every now and then(guts).
Kirito's lack of any fault or mystery or limit is the reason he's not a good OP-character. It's just not interesting to see this stuff int his format.
Also presentation.
"it's so hard to do"
-Does it on first try.
This is an overused trope in SAO. Whatever is a challenge or supposed to be has to be explicitly told it's hard. Because the Author and A-1, can't show it.
Do this. Count how many times a rather easy or normal task in SAO-II is labeled hard or abnormal.
In this episode alone there is 3,
-Beats challenge
-Rides bike
-Picks weapon
4 if you count his character model.
In episode 2 you had Sinon at like 6-7.
It's just a fun game to play in SAO.

Well yes, but the problem with the lottery is that he's not in the game but 5 minutes and he has tons of money.
Imo that's just a filler part instead of just giving him transferable credits to start with.

I'm kind of worried since Sinon just takes Kirito's transfer as normal when it was shown in ALO that it was only possible thanks to the AI.

Still don't care for plot anymore in this anime so it was quite a good episode however ofc you get the perfect reference from how girls are usually treated in games which was hilarious. Then you have black aang watching his buddy get killed and Kirito ofc choosing a sword since his abilities allow him to have an advantage in that because abilities are everything just like how the feg at the beginning said before getting killed. Also the fact that Shinon still has PTSD yet she knows everything about guns and enjoys them.

But girls usually aren't treated that way..... It's a media stereotype that really only applied to when online mmo's first came out. Nowadays no one cares if your character is female or male, or if the person playing it is of either sex.
Might still be a thing in the fps world since it generally has a lower entrance age.

I'm still not sure what really caused shinon's PTSD because her "triggers" seem to be fake guns.
