I thought there was laws of age restriction when it came to any gun range, but if there wasn't you'd think they'd at least restrict it to semi weapons...

Yeah it actually does somewhat, went to my first gun range when I was 11 and I could handle a Glock 36 and JRC 9mm just fine. But there will always be those idiots that either get scared of the weapon and let it kick back to far or not handle the gun like it's supposed to be handled(ie pointing up when not shooting, always keeping finger on the trigger etc.).

Children should not be handling weapons, ever! How can you handle an uzi before you can handle a car?! Make it 16, at least then you have hopefully developed enough muscle mass to handle the recoil. At the very least don't give them an open bolt weapon that kicks back and up like a mule getting poked. This is common sense. Even better, why not practice with blanks?

I can pretty much agree with you on this much at least, I think that they should be allowed with a bit bigger caliber ar's but only if they pass some low caliber pistol tests though.
