For somebody in a leadership position, like a head cook, who oversees the people below, that rely on him, to suddenly put on a "fuck this shit" mentality and ditch the place is just immature.

Adults should act like adults, with dignity and respect. Want to quit your job? Fine, but you should at least give a heads up, and not do it abruptly. You're not some bagger boy at a grocery store. Based off their reaction, it's obvious that they need you, and to just leave them hanging like that, not even as an employee, but as a human, is just wrong.
