    About that power button. It seems like you have the front panel connectors on the wrong pins. Remove them and follow the user manual or the names on the actual motherboard with the connectors.

    For the black screen. I suggest you push "Del" (I think F2 brings up the option to choose what you want to boot from?) and navigate to the "Boot" menu if you can get into the actual BIOS. If you can get that far, make sure the dvd drive is set to boot priority #1. Save and exit and then hit any key when prompted.

    Don't think I can get into the actual BIOS. If I don't press anything, the Asus logo stays and the prompt goes away. If I press either, the screen turns black.

    I just read some other forums posts of people having the same issue. It very well could be the actual motherboard. I suggest you take it back to the store you bought it from and get a replacement.
