"Newer" to PC modding. Need helping dumping the game

How would I be able to view the contents of the .exe in ida or a tool like it? Do I need to dump the game and if so can someone tell me how?

I want to be able to look for addresses and reverse engineer functions in the assembly code like I did on Xbox.



I started modding on PC a few months ago, but the only thing I haven't been able to do is look at the contents of a decrypted .exe file

Thanks. I saw that thread the other day, but totally forgot about it

Also, do I need to do anything special for IDA to read the dump correctly? On xbox we needed specific plugins.

Not really. I'm not sure if this is a must but doing this seemed to remove the dialog box saying that the imports section was destroyed: make sure the "Load resources" box is checked, leave the imports box checked and uncheck the FLAT box if it is checked. It should work fine that way.
