Here's how it all started: I snuck out one night to go dumpster diving with some mates. Turns out we found an iPhone 4. Since there were 3 of us we had to figure out who would keep it. We were to do an arm wrestle sorta thing, I won. I brought the phone home and started to check it out. It was jailbroken and didn't have a place to put the SIM card. Since I needed a SIM slot to put mine in I really didn't have any use for it. Well I started using it as an iPod sorta thing. Installed a few apps on it. Well I had this black kid that wanted to trade. He gave me an iPhone 4s, I got the passcode but not the iCloud password. I thought I could still do something with it, so I kept it. Later that evening my friend came up to me saying, "Them porch monkeys planning on jumping you and getting that phone back". I thought "aint no one fucking with me". I went to the kitchen, this school was sorta like a work place" I got a cutting knife, about 5 inches long. Looked like this:
Well I hid that in my sleeve thing of my hoodie. When school was out we all went for the bus. Of course they surrounded me. They started going through my pockets and shit. I didn't pull out the knife yet. When they couldn't find it they asked where it was. I told em Dalton got it, now this kid is 100% ****** and was recently kicked out of that school for fingering a girl in class. They said Aight and went on the bus. I was so fucking freaked out, I didnt go on the bus. I went back inside and called my mom to get me. I brought the phone home got away with it. When I went to school the next day I heard Dalton was robbed. He has $40+, a credit card sorta thing, and his shity LG phone, All taken. They said it was to pay back for the phone. Well life went on and I got kicked out of that school beginning of January for changing my grades. I am at a regular high school now and just recently found the phone again.

I tried getting it to work, but forgot the passcode. I got it wrong like 20 times and it reset itself. Now I get some connect to iTunes BS. I have checked it out and I need the original iCloud username and password to get into it. I was reading up and forums said to put your current SIM card in. I went and got my mothers iPhone 4, took the SIM card out, and put it into this phone. It said that it couldn't be activated. I contacted AT&T (My provider) and gave them all the info. Turns out this phone wasn't made for AT&T so they couldn't help me. I thought I could Jail Break it, but since the SIM card won't activate the phone can't activate. So it says, "Activate iPhone to Jailbreak". I'm pretty sure this iPhone was stolen, so I'm afraid to contact apple. What should I do? I really want to have a new phone, as my iPhone 5 was stolen by one of them nigs in that gang.

"Damontay was put in jail because he was part of a drive by, they missed their target and killed a man with his daughter at the park". There is only like 4 others left. I hear stories about them, but I don't think they'll live too long.

If I recall correctly you can connect it to iTunes and do an reset of the phone. Or just do an reset by holding some buttons.

But, technically you should be able to wipe it and change IMEI.
When people are looking for stolen phones they look for identifications. The IMEI, which is essentially the ID number for that device.
HWID so to speak. Most users don't note or write these down, so you should be fine on that front, but rather safe than sorry.

Then there's the accounts activated on that phone, so if someone were to log into their account on their browser while the phone is on with connection, they'd be able to track it.


Your solution:

This is not for beginners seeing as you can "brick" the device. Making it useless if you don't know how to recover from it.
Try and get your hands on two things, a recovery image and a system image.
The recovery image should be flashed onto the phone, then booted up, while in the recovery, do a FULL wipe, that means, data, cache, logs, pictures, videos, applications and anything that could possibly be on there. A FULL FORMAT.

When that is done, flash the new system image onto it.

You should now have a fresh phone. Without jailbreak, as it is save within the root system files. Not the SD.
As for the IMEI, there's ways to change that, at least for Android.

I should have now provided you with all the details you could be needing for a while.

I did that as well but it is hard af to remove and put a new screen on it. I did it together with my father but when we were finished I had 2 screws leftover. It worked tho, for about 3 weeks. After 3 weeks my mobo in the iPhone crashed and now the phone is useless. So be careful, and know what you're doing.
