Well, I personally make Java-based minecraft tools. That's just me tho
So because of the setup of my major (Computer Science) I'll be learning Java this semester and also for Fall '15. I know that C++ is preferred for most hacks made on this site, but I don't think self-teaching C++ while doing Java for school is a great idea. I'd love to apply my Java knowledge to something outside of class that will be interesting and fun.
I think my best option is to learn to make bots for RuneScape, but if there are any other suggestions please let me know

Basically Java-based games... Java isn't good at handling addresses, and it's a really extensive process just to read/write anything AFAIK... I'd say only Java games really work well.

Games is the almost good thing, or sometimes little Programs or Bots, if you are not really used to C++, like me!
Minecraft cheats client, they're bit challenging at first but fun!

I personally enjoy developing with Java. You will see C++ commonly used around because it's a language close to the machine. Since Java uses the JVM to interpret your code, there is a little bit of an overhead involved.
This isn't a problem for game hacks if you handle your exceptions, threads, and keep things synchronized. I may write a game hack tutorial for Java.
I'm pretty sure you can make chat bots for Skype and stuff. That would be cool.
