A Colorado woman responding to a Craigslist ad for baby clothes was beaten, stabbed and had her unborn baby cut from the womb Wednesday in a brutal attack by another woman, police said.

The alleged attacker, a 34-year-old woman, showed up at Longmont United Hospital with the dead fetus, claiming she had a miscarriage, Longmont Police Commander Jeffrey M. Satur said.

Officers responded to a call at 2:41 p.m. in Longmont, a city about 30 miles north of Denver, and could hear the injured woman yelling from inside a Green Place home where she reportedly went to buy clothes after responding to an ad on Craigslist.

"This is a tragic case for a mother right now," Satur told the Longmont Times-Call. "She came by this house. She was attacked, and her baby was removed from her."
