here is how to make a program with all the same functions of a regular notepad and you can add more if you want. First add a rich text box.
Then add a menu strip
Make the First option along the top File
Make the next options in this order under file:
New
Open
Save
Exit
Now the next option across the top is edit
Under edit make the options in this order:

Redo
Cut
Copy
Paste
Clear
Select all
