Sask. — Latasha Gosling’s family members say they’re trying to focus on the loving mother and her boisterous children rather than on the “monster” who killed them.

“This doesn’t seem real. It’s a nightmare,” her mother, Anne Gross, said in an interview Thursday on the back deck of their Nipawin home.

Gosling and her three children — Jenika, eight, Landen, seven, and Janayah, four — were slain this week by her partner, Steve O’Shaughnessy, in the Tisdale, Sask., trailer they shared.

After the killing, O’Shaughnessy took photos of the bodies and sent them to the children’s father in a text message.

It was the day before the husband’s birthday. “He sent them to him as a birthday gift,” said Tim Funk, Gosling’s cousin.
