Floyd Mayweather beats Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas

Floyd Mayweather emerged victorious from the most lucrative fight in history, beating Manny Pacquiao via a wide unanimous decision in Las Vegas.
American Mayweather, 38, delivered a defensive masterclass against his Philippine rival at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, making the necessary adjustments after only a few rounds before disappearing out of sight. Mayweather, who added the WBO welterweight title to the WBC and WBA titles he already owned, was awarded the fight 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112 by the three judges. With his victory, Mayweather also cemented his status as the greatest pound-for-pound boxer of his generation. The five-weight world champion is now undefeated in 48 professional fights, stretching back 19 years. Six-weight world champion Pacquiao, who falls to 57 wins, six losses and two draws, later blamed a shoulder injury for his defeat.

Thousands of migrants rescued at sea
Nearly 3,700 migrants were rescued from boats near the coast of Libya on Saturday and early on Sunday, the Italian coastguard said.
A spokesman said rescue operations were likely to continue throughout Sunday. All of those pulled from boats were being taken to Italy.
Italian authorities said the migrants were rescued by Italian and French navy vessels in 17 separate operations.
At least 1,750 people have died this year trying to cross the Mediterranean.
The number is a 20-fold increase on the same period in 2014, when 96 people died. Many more migrants are expected to make the crossing as smugglers take advantage of calmer weather.
At an emergency meeting last month to discuss the crisis, European Union leaders said they would triple the funding for rescue operations run by EU border agency Frontex, and threatened to target smugglers' boats with military strikes.

New York policeman in critical condition after shooting

A plainclothes policeman is in a critical condition after being shot in the head in New York. Brian Moore, 25, was shot while attempting to question a suspect from his police car in the borough of Queens. New York's Jamaica Hospital said the officer underwent surgery there about four hours after the shooting. Police said the suspect, named as Demitrius Blackwell, was arrested about an hour after the incident. Bill Bratton, New York's police commissioner, said Mr Moore and his partner Erik Janssen were in an unmarked car when they saw a man adjust something on his belt. Suspecting he was carrying a gun, the officers approached him. "The man immediately removed the firearm from his waistband and turned in the direction of the officers and deliberately fired several times at the vehicle, striking Officer Moore in the head," Mr Bratton said. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters: "It's a reminder of the dangers all of our officers face every single day." Mr Moore came from a police family and had served with distinction, the mayor said. Local media reported that Mr Blackwell was recently paroled after serving seven years in prison for attempted murder.
Saturday's incident is the fifth shooting of a police officer in New York in five months.

The Tesla Powerwall

The Tesla is widely known for their cars but a branch of the company known as Tesla Energy recently made its mark in the tech industry with their new product. Tesla Energy's main focus is trying to end the world's usage of grid power and instead switch over to solar power. Their first product was the Powerwall Home Battery that allowed an entire household to be powered through solar energy. Unfortunately due to its high cost and inefficiency of the batter, it didn't cut it for Tesla Energy and even Elon Musk himself who said the high cost and inefficient batteries made the product that much worse. The companies new batteries will cost you $3,500 and you can pre-order them now. These batteries have the ability to be stacked to offer a stronger charge and as well as being able to store more. The main purpose and goal for the company and their battery is to transition consumers who use grid power to solar power. With the battery storing solar power will be more efficient. Although this is just a first step, Tesla will undoubtedly have more for us in the future.

Micro Tug Robots

Introducing... the Micro Tug! These robots can pull object 2,000 times their own weight! This makes it perfect for "tugging" on extremely heavy object such as my you know what. These bots are developed by Stanford’s Biomimetics and Dextrous Manipulation Lab. The robot works by using two simple wheels to scoot around and then drops onto its sticky belly when it needs to pull an object. A built-in winch then pulls the object briefly, allowing the little robot some slack to move forward a little on its wheels. It can repeat this process ad nauseam, allowing it to pull huge objects without much trouble. Definitely cool and definitely useful!

ESL and ESEA combine to make the ESL ESEA Pro League

ESL and ESEA have teamed up to form the ESL ESEA Pro League, the biggest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament in the history of the game. The league will consist of two divisions, one in North America and one in Europe, with 12 invited teams per division battling for their share of a $1 million prize pool. The NA lineup has yet to be announced but here is the confirmed europeon line-up

Steam bans now come direct from developers

Steam bans can now be handed down from game developers themselves, it has emerged. Previously bans could only come from Valve itself, but now those making the games can ask those running Steam to ban someone as they wish, with Valve enforcing those wishes.

Dead Island pushed back to 2016

Deep Silver announced two things about Dead Island 2 last summer: First, that it would not take place on an island, and second, that it would be out in the spring of 2015. But sadly the date of spring 2015 has been pushed back after a few tweets from the dead island team stating

"We have always set ourselves a big goal for Dead Island 2: to create the sequel that takes Dead Island to the next level. A game that takes what our fans tell us they love about Dead Island—multiple different characters to play with, co-op, and turning a paradise setting into a zombie slaughter melee—and a game that adds a ton more content and combat options on top of that, And we wanted to have all of that that done for release in Spring 2015."
But after "looking at the game long and hard," the studio decided that it isn't quite where it should be, and thus elected to push it back to 2016. It didn't offer any hints as to when in 2016 it might be out, saying only that its focus at the moment is "purely on development,".

Mysterious countdown clock

The Black Mesa Research Facility website is now hosting a mysterious countdown clock against a backdrop of wavering color bars, static, beeps, and a few glimpses of Half-Life's notorious G-Man. The clock appeared sometime yesterday—linked by the Black Mesa mod site—and represents the number of days, hours, and minutes until the clock runs out. It looks like its going to run out at May 5th It'll be very instresting to see what's at the end of that timer.
