That's an older type. Although it encrypts more file types, it also leaves previous file restores and such unchanged. This version just nukes all previous windows and file back ups.
If you're implying it is an older type and no safe mode etc, someone did leave this in the comments:
In Windows 8, there is no F8 to get into safe mode so goto the charms bar and click "Settings" and then click "Power" and then hold down the Shift key and click "Restart" and then let go of the Shift key, and then once the screen "Choose an option" comes up, click "Troubleshoot" click "Advanced Options" click "Start up Settings" click "Restart" and once the screen "Start up Settings" and tap the 4 key.
