    Thoughts/Opinions on my PC build

Hey everyone, so I've been upgrading my pre-built PC (Acer Veriton M275) bit by bit and ultimately, I will end up with a new computer altogether.

    What I currently have:

CPU: Intel Pentium E5800 dual core @ 3.2 GHz
    Motherboard: Acer Veriton M275
RAM: 2x4GB Crucial Ballistix Sport (currently only using 1 of the 2 sticks)
Hard Drives: 250GB Samsung 850 Evo SSD, 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 960 (1 million edition)
    Case: Acer Veriton M275
    Power Supply: Corsair CX600M
    Optical Drive: Asus DVD/CD Writer

    What I plan to get:

    CPU: Intel i5 4690K quad core @ 3.5 GHz
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
    Motherboard: Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150
Case: Corsair 500R White ATX mid tower

This is what I'll end up with.

I'd like to get your thoughts/opinions on whether or not this PC will be overkill for the kinds of things it's used for; the only resource-intensive things will be playing Witcher 3 and occasionally converting videos. Otherwise it will mainly be used to play League of Legends (among other smaller games), office work, and some sound mixing/editing. I've spent $700 so far and with the parts I plan on getting, it will roughly cost about another $700 so if any ideas you guys have ends up cutting some costs, that'll be a bonus

    For League? Yes.
    Witcher 3? No

Honestly though, just do yourself a favor and wait till mid-late september for Skylake to be released, as what you're getting now will have it's price dropped.

Cool, although the reason I'm looking to upgrade now is because I've been getting screen freezes/BSoD ever since I installed my new video card. I'm suspecting it's maybe because the motherboard is too old. Should I just purchase a Skylake processor when it's released or stick with what I've posted above?

If you are playing LEague mainly, you can just get a really cheap micro atx or itx build. I made one for wife, and it runs league max settings@1920x1080/at over a60 fps

    Hers was only $300

Your link is broken by the way.

Yes League is one of the main things being used on this PC but I also want to be able to have some room for any future upgrades should I choose to do so. Will that be possible with micro atx? Also, thanks for pointing out the broken link, it should be working now

Yes and no. What I'm trying to suggest is you get an actual PC, and then upgrade parts in due time.

Just get a temp job, or a if you must have something right now before skylake.

I've got a relatively tight budget so I'm not looking for a high-end gaming PC. Will what I have run it fine on say, medium settings?

Ah I see. I should've been more clear as to what I'm looking for. I've recently replaced everything on my PC except the CPU, cooler, motherboard, and case (all of which I'm looking to upgrade now), so I'm wondering which computer parts in those categories would best suit my needs besides the ones I've listed above (if possible). I'm not looking to buy a whole new PC since I pretty much already bought half of one

You are going to be fine playing on high no problems, that i5 paired with a gtx960 will handle The Witcher 3 no problems.

PD: Add a 700w PSU at least man.

Yeah sure he will playing with gtx 960 witcher 3 on high hahahaha, u must be joking buddy, i got two 290x in crossfire and i barely go above 70 fps on ultra settings 1080p.In big cities i go below 50fps.So stop talking nonsense.Witcher 3 is very graphically demanding game.

The major issue is the slowdown, read/write speed continuosuly go lower as you use.

You may not notice a significant difference but its been happening since the previous model, 840 evo.
