[Solution] "Failed to ping closest servers, please try again ..."

Wanted to play the all new Battlefield 3 Beta on PC, but came across the following error while trying to join a game?
("Failed to ping closest servers, please try again. If this happens frequently, check your firewall settings")

Here's how to solve it!

1. Navigate to your installation folder.
2. 32-bit: "C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Bèta Battlefield 3"
3. 64-bit: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Bèta Battlefield 3"
   
4. Change the name of the folder to "Beta Battlefield 3" (instead of "Bèta Battlefield 3")
   
5. Now open regedit (run -> regedit) and edit the following keys (NOTE: check which version applies to you)

Windows X64:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\EA Games\BF3 Beta

Edit the following two (Bèta to Beta again):

• "GDFBinary"="C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Beta Battlefield 3\GDFBinary_en_US.dll"
• "Install Dir"="C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Beta Battlefield 3\"

Windows X86 (32Bit):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA Games\BF3 Beta

Edit the following two (Bèta to Beta again):

• "GDFBinary"="C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Beta Battlefield 3\GDFBinary_en_US.dll"
• "Install Dir"="C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Beta Battlefield 3\"

Help, it still doesn't work for me!
- Reboot your PC
- Disable your AntiVirus, still
- Run Origin as administrator
- Open the battlelog in IE (Internet Explorer)
- Don't hit the 'Quick Match' button, instead, navigate through the 'Server Browser'

Either one works for me, but IE was advised.

I use IE usualy and tried to play throguht it and always got that error
googled it and saw someone said to use firefox
works perfectly

My friend is using a 64-bit asus g73sw-a1 asus laptop and is attempting to run the bf3 beta for the first time. None of the fixes above have worked for him. (the folders names did not have the accent to begin with)
Since he does not have an account on mpgh and doesnt want to make one, I am posting this on behalf of him. What can he do to fix this. Just to clarify, his firewall is allowing it through, i doubt sophos anti-virus is blocking it, and he uses the latest version of IE.
