No. Dubstep was basically just 140bpm music with this wobble bass and some synths. not distorted at all, way more atmospheric and calm. Then this guy called "Skrillex" came, who looks like fucking gay emo cunt and started to fill clubs with his filthy dubstep shit. That was kind of the moment when this hype started, and people even started dancing to this. There were some artists before who started working with distortion and this filthy thing but they didn't become famous at all.

i play guitar and bass and back then when I was in school I deejay'd a lot...I am not anti-dubstep, but I like classical music. It's just sad to see what's in the charts these days and what kids call "music".
