Oh, and Rance 9 is being released in Japan the 25th. So most likely the translators aren't going to work on Rance 1 remake for a while. There's 5D, 6 and 9 to be translated aside from the ones they're already doing atm. Oh, and there's 2 groups working on the Rance titles. Well, the one working on Kichikou Rance is actually doing it by himself. And he's relatively fast as I've been stalking the shit out of his blog and he's gotten to 55% in a few months.

Eh... the first Rance game came out 1989 so the artwork and gameplay is old as fuck. I played in this order
Sengoku Rance -> Rance 1 -> Rance 2 remake and so on

For some reason even though there's a remake for the first Rance game it never got fan translated but the second one did. There's a couple of bugs in Rance 1 also like the bloody town one and it pissed me off. If you're going in order just be prepared for some really old graphics. If I were you I would play the digest version of the first game
and wait until the release of the remade version of the first one. Anyways, here's a list of all the fan translations of the Rance series.

Okay, let me tell you why Rance is godly. He's a fictional rapist that's trying to take over the worlds and even conquer the gods themselves. He's already attempted to kill the god of all creation in Kichikou Rance. He's already conquered most of the world (75%) and he has the largest harem I've seen so far in anime/manga/vn. It's a great H-RPG that you should play mate.
