or maybe steam is preparing a new patch. it will patch everything, even the ranks. They will be server side. They will release it when the time is right....

Steam wont prepare anything. It is IW's job to make a patch and they don't give a shit about MW2 and especially not on teh PC

Maybe they are gone do an big update.
Or maybe they changed something in 1.2.208.
Just so see if the hacks would work with the downgraded patch..
And if they didn't. they would just use the old codes for a time and then keep switching to prevent hacking.
Maybe not so smart.. But it souned as an good way to keep hacks off...
