Using Cheat Engine in Solo Zombies

I'm considering buying the game just to play Zombies and according to the Steam page for this game, it's using Valve Anti-Cheat though I still see people complaining about cheaters online.

I guess that means it isn't very strict/not working correctly?

Anyways I just want to use Cheat Engine in Solo Zombies for my own entertainment. Is there any actual danger of doing this? Or am I only in trouble if I get reported in an online match?

From what I've read there's no real anti cheat and they're using manual bans, so don't make yourself top 1000 on the leaderboards or go into a game aimbotting everyone and you should be fine.
