My problem is that when trying to install windows 7 via usb 3 ports it doesnt work due to the installation media not having the usb 3 drivers as W7 doesnt come with usb 3 drivers. However, not only have i slipstreamed the drivers into the .iso, i have also bought a usb 2.0 header as my board only has usb 3 ports for the back panel. Neither of these have ended up working so i dont know what the problem is since it should work fine if i'm installing through a usb 2 port however it doesnt.

I would check the manufacturer website to see if they have usb 3.0 drivers for your specific hardware device.
If that doesn't work please go to "device manager" under the "universal serial bus controller" section and make sure you have usb 3.0 listed. If not then you will need to have those drivers installed for the usb device in order for it to work.
I am also facing the same issue with my Hp pc, after that, I take a help of Hp Support Assistant to solve the issue properly, if you till face the same thing and can't solve the issue properly you can alos take a help of this site, I think your problem will be solved properly.
