No. Dat is a data file it holds he map files. Its not an image...if we were to convert t, it would be to. Obj. Or ltb

Why would I do that? I have never done anything 'specifically' for CA.

Also, maps are checked for edits. Although they are also compiled to .dat slightly differently than the nolf tools do itit

I am not working on a converter as that is easy to do (maybe time consuming, but easy enough), I am more interested in cracking the attributes encryption.

I have never done any hacking before so I should learn a fair amount about it while trying. So far I have learned how to start the game directly through the engine.exe (skipping the web start and CA_direct.exe) and can tell it which IP to connect to (good for private servers). Unfortunately my VM doesn't passthrough d3d, so I can't run the actual game for further poking around (for now hopefully).
