I've got an interesting way in which you can improve the FPS and loading speed.
It's not a BIG difference, but every little helps

Firstly, we will change the font. The default CF font is 13mb! We will replace it with a 7kb font which is about 1/14000th of the original font's size!

Go to your CrossFire fonts folder, mine is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Z8Games\CrossFire\rez\Fonts

Rename

default.ttf

to

default.bak.ttf

Download this font:

Paste it into your fonts folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Z8Games\CrossFire\rez\Fonts

Now start CrossFire and play!

There is another font you can use. It is all capital/upper case:

THE FONT MUST BE NAMED "DEFAULT.TTF" OTHERWISE IT WILL NOT WORK!






Next method is to compress all the sound files that CrossFire uses!
Don't worry, you will NOT lose the quality very much!

BACKUP THE SOUND FOLDER BEFORE YOU FOLLOW THIS TUTORIAL! (C:\Program Files (x86)\Z8Games\CrossFire\rez\Snd2)

By default, all the sounds are about 140mb.
We will compress these sounds and make it a total of 90mb, so CrossFire will have less to load, making it faster.

Install it and use the keygen. [Please buy the software if you will use it in the future].



Now open SWITCH SOUND FILE CONVERTER as ADMIN!
Click on ADD FOLDER, and add this folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Z8Games\CrossFire\rez\Snd2

Now click on the "format" row and delete the .mp3 files.

In the Wave Encoder options, There is no Lame Mp3 Format available on my Laptop. So I'll use the default ? Then change the Attributes ?
