The C language has always been the dominant. C, C#, C++ ; VB is used in many things but rarely commercial (from what I understand) so, yes, it's a language to learn but try to know some other stuff too if you plan to write programs other than in VB. Yes, VB has sexy GUI creation but sometimes that's not all that matters.
