You don't need a 3970x/4960x for gaming. I think a 4770k get's the job done if you only game
Just wondering, no budget isn't a problem so the 300$ price difference isn't that big of a deal. Although saving a bit of money does help. I'm going to be using a custom loop with it too.
I'm pretty much just going to be gaming.

You really don't need to invest an extra 300$ for a CPU, a 4th GEN i5 will work perfectly for gaming.

What do you want to with your computer gaming or bragging?
both are useless, go with a 4930k or a 4770k if you want to delid
You seem not to know, either.
Sorry, but I kinda giggled when I read: they both make the 4930k and 4770k look like Pentium Ds.
Just look at benches, differences are maybe 200 points or at most or 2-3 FPS..
0.14, what a big difference.
Opposing to the 4770K, maybe, as the difference is 3 points.(Cinebench benches)
Or this:
This one second is worth 400-500 bucks, are you sure?
You aren't a professional who needs a workstation, except if your Rainmeter takes 12 GB of RAM, lol.
Like it's so dificult to push up these 200 Mhz which 4930K lacks(and yes, that 3MBs of L3 cache, which you can't OC, but w/e).
