OK Got all our servers set up. You can do everything via the RCON tool. Not much you can do for ranked.
You can run hardcore and barebones with Ranked servers- there is a playlist for those.

You should have your server IPs from Gameservers and they should be in your gamepanel

How to Join by IP
There is a console command for add favourite but it does not seem to work. So currently there is no way to join by IP
You actually have more control of your servers as far as server options out of the box with Black Ops than you did with any other COD.
There is supposed to be a lot of server variables we can control.
This is big really helps the competitive community. Maps are a good size and no spawn nades

Overview
This tool allows administrators to control dedicated Call of Duty/Black Ops game servers. In general, the
areas of control fall into the following categories
· Player-specific controls
· Map Controls and map rotations
· Playlists
· Editing values of settings (dvars)
· Messaging and message rotations
· Authoring configuration files
Getting Started
The distribution contains the following files (note: these will almost certainly change with future
releases).
BlackOpsRcon.exe – the main executable. This is dependent on Microsoft’s .NET framework 3.5 which
just about everyone has installed by now. If you don’t have it, you can install it from here:

Data files:
· BlackOpsRcon.default.gamesettings - an XML file which describes the game settings.
· BlackOpsRcon.default.gametypes – an XML file which describes the various game types and
associated settings.
· BlackOpsRcon.default.maps – an XML file which defines all the available maps.
· default.cfg – a configuration file containing the default unranked server settings.
· playlists_mp.info – a text file which defines all the available playlists.
· UserQuickStart.pdf - this quick start manual.
Connecting to the server
After launching the application, notice the section called “Quick Connect”. This is where you enter the
information for the server that you want to connect to.
Label – This is a name you can use to later identify this connection (in saved servers)
Host (IP) – This is the IP address of the server.
Port – The port number on the server you’re going to use. The default is 3074.
Password – The password for the remote server connection.
The last three values are supplied to you from GameServers.com.
Once you’ve entered the above information, press the “Connect” button to connect to the server.
The “Saved Servers” section allows you to save your connection information for future use. Either select
the label name and press the “Connect” button at the bottom of the window or double click the label
name in the list.
The User Interface
The main interface of the tool is navigated via a collection of tab buttons along the top of the window.
These buttons vary depending upon a couple of factors. The first distinction is between Ranked and
Unranked servers. The second is whether or not playlists are enabled on the server. For each tab
panel described below, the applicability of the panel will be based on these two factors.
Players - Available in all modes
This displays all players currently in the game and provides several player-specific commands.
Maps - Available only in Unranked with Playlists-disabled
Implements map switching and authoring of map rotations.
Playlists - Available in Ranked and in Unranked with Playlists-enabled
Controls the starting of available playlists and setting of map/gametype exclusions.
Settings - Available only in Unranked
Exposes many, many server variables for admins to edit.
Messages - Available in all modes
Sending of messages and authoring of message rotations.
Config Builder - Available only in Unranked
Creating configuration files locally and sending them to the server.
Console - Available only in Unranked
This provides a console onto the game server for sending any command to the server.
Server - Available only in Ranked (unranked has this functionality under “Settings”)
Provides a way for administrators to set basic server values (a subset of the Settings panel).

Here is a summary of the current hot topics that we have been seeing in our support systems and community forums. We will do our best in keeping this list up to date and to add additional topics to this list as they come. Feel free to reply to this thread but be sure to keep things as constructive as possible. We have a direct line into Treyarch for any and all issues that we see and they are listening loud and clear.
- Can't find my server in the browser
Due to huge volume of traffic that is occurring on the back-end systems, a temporary fix was put into place to randomly limit the amount of servers that are listed on the browser. This is a temporary fix and we will provide an update once it has been fixed.
- Can't connect to my server using the RCON Tool
We have been getting reports that there has been connection issues between the RCON tool and servers. We are still investigating this issue and hope to find the root cause shortly.
- My hostname gets overwritten after setting it in the RCON Tool
A fix for this should be coming in on 11/10/2010. Changes to your hostname via the my.gameservers.com control panel will work through the same mechanisms as the RCON Tool which will in turn preserve any hostname changes that you make even on reboot.
- Servers crashes
We have seen a few reports of server crashes, but compared to the quantity of servers that have been deployed, the percentages are low. However, logs will be examined on all reported cases in order to isolate any possible issues.
- Server Lag
Reports of lag occurring in game has been reported and we are taking a very serious look into this. From a server perspective, we do not see any evidence of any resource utilization issues on the hardware that the servers are running on. There has been questions regarding our hardware and to address that, each server that is running Black Ops is brand new built specifically for Black Ops.
- How do I use reservedslots
In your my.gameservers.com control panel, you will be able to edit your reservedslots.txt configuration file. The file should be written in the following format:

Currently, 5 reserved slots are supported.
The server will keep the list of reserved slots. Each slot is identified by a unique password specified in the reservedslots.txt file. If a server is full and a client joins with the password, the slot for that password is used. A random client is picked and kicked. If two clients use the same password, only the first client gets the reserved slot
- My server is still in pending status, when will it come up
As of this posting, 98% of all servers have been installed and activated. If your server is in a pending state, rest assured that server provision is near the top of our list of priorities to complete.
- Can I run Zombie Mode or Wager Matches on my rented server?
You can not run Zombie mode or Wager Matches on your rented servers
- How do I change my playlists
Playlist changes should be done by using the rcon tool
- My RCON password is not working, how can I reset it?
In order to reset the RCON password for your Call of Duty: Blackops server you need to log into your members area at then click on CONFIG next to the subscription. Then modiy the field that is next to ' RCON Password: ' then press ' Save Changes ' and it will update it for you.

They also review the stats for cheaters reported by the game and cheaters reported by other players. There are all sorts of secret magical things happening behind the scenes to track cheaters.

7:10 PM DavidVo: I think people are going to be blow away by the things we've done with Private Match in this game. Let me give you some examples. You can make up to 10 classes loaded out with what you want and only what you want and then the players of your game will pick between those load outs. You can customize what killstreaks are in your game mode variant. Dan and I like to player Pistols + Shotguns only. In Nuketown. Of course, I win. Always.
