Upgrade CPU + Mother Board OR New set up

Hey guys!

So I have a really outdated PC, I only play older games because It cant keep up. Now I plan on upgrading it and I'm thinking about replacing the CPU as it's bottle necking my GPU. But Since my mother board is old it wont support any newer CPU's.

By getting a new mother board I'm guessing I might have to replace my ram too right?


IN SUMMARY:

Should I change my CPU + Mother Board or just buy a new PC


Specs:

- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 (I should Prob upgrade this to windows 10, although i'm unsure how.)
- CPU AMD Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition
- Mother Board ASUS M3A78-EM
- GPU GTX 960 4gb

You could just get a new CPU + Mobo if you're happy with the rest of everything else you have. How much RAM do you have? If it's an older motherboard and you want to get a new CPU+Mobo you'll probably have DDR3 RAM and you're going to want DDR4.
Is this a custom built PC or was it a prebuilt? And what games do you want to play?

just get a new pc and have it refunded, 960 is pretty aged, if you wanna stay on budget I suggest 1660ti or 2060 super, will pair very nicely with a ryzen 5 3600 cpu

Try to sell CPU and GPU since they are very old. I would personally go for a new build, 16gb ram ddr4, ryzen 3600 or 3700, nvidia 2060.
