Absolutely not, you should build your own. You could get exponentially better specs for the money compared to that.
Hey everyone, im new here but i can use some of you guys' advice!
I'm looking at buying a new computer that can substantiate with all my news (gaming/homework), and i got my eyes on the Alienware Area 51 desktop. It looks insane and it runs about $1600.
If any of you guys could give me suggestions, or why or why not i should buy this comp, i would definitely appreciate it!
dell .com/us/p/alienware-area51-r2/pd
that link will lead you directly to the pc i have my eyes on!! ^^^^^^
Absolutely not, you should build your own. You could get exponentially better specs for the money compared to that.
From what I know about Alienware and their products
is you'll find they're extremely overpriced
and will find it more cost effective to
build your own computer to handle the same
games that an Alienware computer can, with the
current gaming standards or flagship game requirements
(GTAV /etc/) for a lot less than most Alienware computers. I mean
for crying out loud they have products that range up to 5k when
you can build a computer for ~$1300 that can handle most games
mid-high settings.

Building a PC has much more value. You don't pay for the Alienware case/brand, and building your own is generally cheaper than prebuilts anyway. You'll ave yourself a bunch of money and you can put that money back into upgrades if you choose.
They look good but you could spend up to
$500 bucks less and still have an 'as-good' computer for today's requirements
for the most demanding applications and games.
Hell, as I said in my initial post, GTAV at mid-high and the other most demanding games
can be sufficed with a $1200-1300 computer.
Getting started is going to ************.com and looking at parts that are compatible,
fit your need, your budget,
and save you money in comparison to Alienware products.

But is the area 51 good?
I mean you guys are the experts..

Im starting college soon and hopefully my grant comes through, i just dont think i can manage to build a pc bro. Thats why i asked you guys for help regarding whether or not its a good pc as is.
To answer your question simply, yes,
the specs it has are good, just the price they're selling the computer for is not.
So yes, if you don't really mind a budget and
you want really good specs that can definitely
handle modern gaming and the most demanding applications
(which even a $600 computer can handle Adobe products/Microsoft Office products).
edit: and you don't have the knowledge to buy parts and build your own

It's really not as difficult as it sounds. And yes it's a good PC, there's just better value in building your own. But if you're set on that one and don't want to bother building your own, and saving money doesnt matter to you? Get it. I can't imagine why you'd want to spend an extra few hundred bucks right when you're going into college, youre gonna need all the dough you can get there lol
Do you think its a long lasting pc? i have a $500 dell pc and its been 7 years and the thing still turns on in a matter of seconds. Do you think the alienware will have the same outcome?

lol i understand hahaha. but do you got any suggestions? a pc that could be better then this one or its equivalent?

omg thats great! Thanks so much!
No,just no.
Alienware is just a steal.
For that budget you sould build it yourself,it is actually very easy to do so,there are a lot of guides on internet about how to build your own PC.
If you need help with what parts to get, just PM me.

honestly i sat down last night after everyone on this forum told me not to buy a pre built pc at $1600 and i watched a build video. it seems so easy to put it together, i mean im not dumb enough to not know how to handle a screw driver, but installing the drivers and stuff seemed a little scary to me. what if i cant get one part to work and stuff like that.
in my mind, i just thought it would be better to spend the couple extra bucks in order to get a full working 100% pc.
