in my mind, i just thought it would be better to spend the couple extra bucks in order to get a full working 100% pc.
There is no way to break anything, worse thing that can happen is that you plugged something wrong.
Drivers and stuff is just straight up download and install, and when you are building everything is on internet or in manuals.

is there a link to a manual that you used before, or something that could get me parts and get me started?

Honestly if you're looking to buy pre-built, at the very least you shouldn't buy from Alienware. You're only supporting the cause for aids/stupidity. And if you really don't want to put together a PC yourself go find PC builders like ibuypower that have Prebuilt PC's on sale. Since September is coming there are bound to be some deals like $100 off your computer.

And when you buy pre-built, always make sure that the included power supply is from a reputable company and if not spend the few extra bucks to get one.

    CPU : Intel Core i5-4690K
    MOBO : Gigabyte GA-Z97M-DS3H
    GPU : Gigabyte GTX 980
    RAM : Kingston 8GB
    HDD : Seagate 1TB
    SSD : Crucial BX100 120GB
    CASE : Corsair Carbide 200R
    PSU : Corsair CX600
    COOLER : HYPER EVO 212
It is around 1200$ and it will max out every single game on 1080p for sure, even at 1440p probably can max everything out.

There is no need to go for i7, 4690k can run every game maxed out 1440p for sure.
It is like 10 times better than 51.

Just get them from amazon, newegg or from some local stores or smth.
About ram it doesn't really matter what exact it is it can be kingston blue 1600mhz or black 1886mhz,they are 99% same, there is no difference to be important,so just pick cheapest DDR3 8gb ram

It doesn't matter, but I would recommend 1x8GB just because you can upgrade to 32GB if you need it
