Yes, unless they specifically copy and paste your name into PMs or mentions, it won't work. The site might not recognize it, even if they do. It's one of the problems that come with requesting names with 'special' characters.

Notifications doesn't work.
Hello!
Ever since my previous name change, my notifications has stopped working all together, like when someone has mentioned me and/or quoted me, I wont get a notification about it.
Unsure if it has something to do with my name change or something, but I wonder what might have caused that.
