    Windows 10 is slow..

Windows 7 was my fav but I decided to take a leap a while ago and hop onto windows 10 seeing as it was free. But its all around slow? I don't have an SSD but windows 7 was by no means this slow, just opening start menu takes a few seconds, loading documents or files takes a bit of searching.

Opening my downloads folder (8-9 files/folders at most) takes about 6-7 seconds of "working on it" Windows 7 was close to instant. Any tips? I'm defragging right now.

    Try to clean with CCleaner.
If it's not on SSD, maybe your HDD is old (defrag is good).
See your start up programs to check for something unknown and stop it (maybe it is putting your PC on stress).
How old is your W10 installation, and is it clean or upgrade (don't do upgrade ...).
    Try some antivirus scan.

If defraging doesn't help, your best bet is to clean install it. It's much faster without all of your junks from Windows 7.

It was an upgrade from when it was in beta but I chose to remove all files, I'll probably clean install and remove everything sooner or later

If you dont have many programs to instal, clean new installation is the best.

Mine opens automatically without problems, runs smooth as butter and is at least 5x faster searching that Windows 7.

Clean installation is best if defragging your HDD doesn't work.

I vouch for Vader and Hunter Jr. the best and probably the only way to enjoy fast and smooth OS is to do a clean install. I rarely or never upgrade OS since it brings in junk files that may bugger down the OS. If you have a SSD, reformatting should take you about 10-20 minutes to go through the whole process.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 because I realized that Windows 7 gets outdated and some drivers were not working on it. So, I have no issues with it, the system boots in 7 seconds for me and all programs load real quick. Yes, my build is brand new but it must be your HDD in this case. I'd suggest getting a new one, they are quite cheap.

    This is my build

Even though Windows 7 is something you're used to or you think it's better, Windows 10 is the best hands down. I've never run into 1 problem that I couldn't easily fix. With win7, I had so many issues that I couldn't stand it anymore.

Do not use Windows 10 on 4/8GB systems.

    Downgrade to Windows 7.

I upgraded my ram and it fucked up my windows 10. I had to delete everything and reinstall Windows 10. Just downgrade Windows 7.

Any tips on how to downgrade to Win7? I want to keep all my files or at least my steamapps folder if possible
