Failed to upload avatar from URL

Hello, today I wanted to update my avatar to an imgur link, but to my supprise an error occured, and I could not find a way to get it to work.
I hope you can help my somehow, other then "just use the attachment" as that's not my problem

When editing, it looked like this:


After hitting the submit button, I got this error:


The image link is here, and the dimensions where 150x150 with a file size of 39.3 KB

This is a problem for both profile picture and avatar.

Wish I could, but I've had that same issue for years, only saving to PC and uploaded that way works for me.

My plan is to create a simple php script that returns a random image from an array, this way, every time someone loads my profile I'll have a different picture just like my signature has.
(all similair but different color scheme, in this case.)

But this would not be possible if I upload the picture to the site.

Some issues/bugs simply aren't fixable by anyone else but the actual VBulletin developers. Just do as Liz said and you should be fine.

Point is that, if I can upload trough URL I can have it so that whenever you refresh the page/revisit another one, my logo will not be green, but blue, yellow, red, magenta, lime, green, anything.

I found this on the VBulletin forum:

confirm that you have set the permissions for folder customavatars. it must have read/write/exec permissions

But this dates back to 2008 and the devs where aware of the bug, I assume more recent updates have this fixed? I hope that whoever moderates this site can check on it / see if there are updates avalible.

Uploading of avatars via URL is disabled by us.

It will not be re-enabled any time soon (as long as we are on VB).
